Pyeongchang, South Korea (dpa) - Games organizers delayed the start of the women‘s slalom event on Wednesday morning as strong winds continue to plague the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

The event at the Yongpyong Alpine Centre is now due to start at 11.45 am (0245 GMT), one and a half hours later than originally planned. The second run of the day has also been pushed back to 2.45 pm, officials said in a statement.

Slalom favourite Mikaela Shiffrin is yet to compete in an event at the Games, after the women‘s giant slalom was also affected by winds on Monday. Both that event and the men‘s downhill have already been postponed until Thursday.
