London (dpa) - Missy Franklin of the United States set a new world record mark Friday on her way to an Olympic gold medal in the women‘s 200-metre backstroke final.

Franklin secured victory in 2 minutes, 4.06 seconds with Russia‘s Anastasia Zueva coming home 1.86 seconds adrift to take silver. American Elizabeth Beisel finished third to take bronze. dpa gb mis
