Barcelona (dpa) - Spain‘s King Felipe and Queen Letizia placed flowers on Las Ramblas boulevard in Barcelona Saturday evening at the site of Thursday‘s terror attack.

In a ceremony also attended by Barcelona‘s mayor Ada Colau and the President of the autonomous region of Catalunya, Carles Puigdemont, they put the flowers down in an area decorated with a mosaic designed by late artist Joan Miro (1893-1983).

The area has been bedecked with flowers by well-wishers since the attack.

A crowd gathered at the site greeted the royal couple with applause and calls of "Long live the King!" and "Viva Espana."

The crowd also chanted "No tinc por" ("I am not afraid" in Catalan.)

Felipe and Letizia visited people inured in the attack in area hospitals earlier Saturday.

A memorial service will be held in Barcelona‘s Sagrada Familia church on Sunday.

13 people were killed and more than 120 injured in the Las Ramblas attack. A woman died hours later in a foiled attack in the coastal town of Cambrils.
