Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - Finnish weightlifter Milko Olavi Tokola did not win glory with his clean and jerk, but his faint and tumble off the stage guaranteed him attention.

The athlete was about to walk off the stage after having lifted 192 kilograms in his third clean and jerk when he shocked the audience by passing out and falling face down on the ground.

"It hasn‘t happened for a while," Tokola said after he regained consciousness.

"I have been to the doctors, but they don‘t really know why it is happening other than my body is taking too much blood when I lift the very heavy weights," said the athlete, who sports a blond mullet haircut.

Friday was apparently not Tokola‘s lucky day, as he also injured his knee in his second lift and jerk attempt.

Tokola lifted a total 320kg, for a ninth place in group B of the 85kg class.

Despite the mishaps, Tokola was in good spirits and said he was looking forward to his upcoming wedding.

"I get married in two weeks and I have to walk down the aisle, which won‘t be a problem because that day will be just as exciting as being here," he said.
