London (dpa) - Security officers ejected a British activist and self-styled "Brexit saboteur" dressed as superhero shortly before Thursday‘s press conference at the end of the fifth round of Brexit talks.

Artist, musician and anti-Brexit activist Madeleina Kay sat in the front row in her "EU Super Girl" costume and gave her own press conference to journalists before EU and British negotiators appeared.

She was photographed holding a comic book titled, "Theresa Maybe in Brexitland," before the security officers asked her to leave and escorted her out of the room.

"I had every right to be there," Kay wrote on Twitter.

"I had [a] pass and badges. They were just scared of a fancy dress costume," she said, adding that the security guards had "no legal basis" for removing her.

Kay, from the northern city of Sheffield, said she had spent about one week in Brussels.

Earlier Thursday she posted online her song "Don‘t throw it all away," urging people to "just stop Brexit."

"[Kay] is committed to using the arts to address important social and political issues and challenge destructive ingrained cultural attitudes," Kay‘s website read.

Britain, a member of the EU since 1973, is the first country ever to begin procedures for leaving the bloc, following a referendum last year.
