Kabul (dpa) - "A delegation of the [Afghan Taliban‘s] political office has held talks with Afghan delegations in Norway to listen to their opinions," said Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.
Afghan Member of Parliament, Shukria Barakzai, lying on 22/11/2014 in Kabul in her hospital bed, after having previously survived the attack of a suicide bomber injured. Baraksai is a prominent victim, but not an isolated case.

"[The Taliban] wants to listen to the nation and convey its message and policy to different political leaders, in order to achieve an Islamic system," Mujahid said in a statement.

The delegation was reportedly made up of of female parliamentarians and women‘s rights advocates including Shukria Barakzai, Fawzia Koofi, Hawa Alam Nuristani and Sediqa Balkhi.

Official efforts to restart peace negotiations with the Taliban have yielded little thus far, but informal talks with various political stakeholders have been held in recent weeks behind closed doors.

An official at the High Peace Council, the body in charge of the peace process with the Taliban, emphasized the informal nature of the talks in Norway.

"Such rounds of talks can help to develop a better understanding in order to overcome challenges and pave the way for peace talks," said Ismail Qasimyar.

Political leaders and officials from the council met with the Taliban last month in Doha in an even organized by Pugwash, an international organization that negotiates peace efforts.

The council was formed by the former president Hamid Karzai in 2010 to bring the Taliban back to the negotiating table.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who took office in September, has pursued direct peace talks with the Taliban, with the help of neighbouring Pakistan and China.

The insurgent movement has so far declined to comment on such efforts.
