Johannesburg (dpa) - Kenya‘s Olympic delegation athletics chief was arrested on arrival at Nairobi‘s Jomo Kenyatta airport after being recalled from the Olympics in Rio amid doping and corruption allegations, news reports said Tuesday.

Michael Rotich was to remain in custody until a court hearing on Wednesday, local newspapers Daily Nation and The Star reported.

In a report aired last week by German broadcaster ARD, Rotich was recorded on a hidden camera saying that he had 12-hour advance notice of doping tests. He also appeared to suggest that he would be willing to sell that advance knowledge of tests over a three-month period for 10,000 pounds (13,100 dollars).

The Kenyan sports authorities allegedly ordered him back to the country after the allegations arose.

Kenya won 16 medals including seven golds at the 2015 Athletics World Championships in Beijing. The country is once again expected to have success in Rio, especially in long distance events.
