Ulm, Germany (dpa) - A pop concert in the Dutch city of Rotterdam set for Wednesday night was cancelled due to a terrorism threat.

Authorities closed off the venue where the US band Allah-Las was set to play in front of around 1,000 spectators, police said.

The tips received by authorities were sufficient to cancel the event, a police spokesman said, without giving further details about the nature of the information received.

"For security reasons we aren‘t taking any risks," the spokesman said.

The California-based band left the Maassilo concert hall under police protection, Dutch news agency ANP reported.

When the cancellation announcement was made, only a few guests had already arrived at the venue.
