"Otopeni" is a town in Ilfov County, Romania, some 9.5 miles (15 kilometers) North of Bucharest along the road to Ploieşti. It has 10,215 inhabitants, of which 99.0% are Romanians. One village, Odăile, is administered by the town.
Its main claim to fame is the Henri Coandă International Airport - formerly known as Bucharest Otopeni International Airport. , it is also the town in Romania with the highest output per capita, mainly because a lot of companies operating in Bucharest have the headquarters in Otopeni.

The mayor of Otopeni is Constantin Silviu Gheorghe, from the National Liberal Party. The Otopeni Local Council has 17 councillors, even though before the 2008 local elections, it only had 15. It is considered to be a safe Liberal district, currently having the following party composition:
