Prague (dpa) - The Czech Republic has a new government, nearly a month after Petr Necas offered his resignation over a spying and corruption scandal.

President Milos Zeman on Wednesday swore-in the cabinet of the new prime minister, the left-leaning Jiri Rusnok, who is 52.

The new finance minister of the recession-hit country is a former prime minister, Jan Fischer.

Rusnok must now seek a vote of confidence in parliament within 30 days.

On Monday prosecutors called on the Czech parliament to lift the immunity of Necas. His resignation followed the arrest of some of his closest aides on charges of bribery and the misuse of the secret intelligence services. dpa hei nl ik ajb Author: Michael Heitmann
