Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - More than 2,000 doping tests have been carried during the Rio Olympics with no positive cases, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said Thursday.

IOC spokesman Mark Adams said 2,097 tests have so far been carried out - comprising 1,775 urine tests, 121 blood tests and 201 biological pass controls.

It is planned to carry out some 5,500 doping tests of the more than 11,000 athletes taking part in the Games, which run until August 21.

Any positive tests should be immediately known. For the first time in Olympic history, one of two ad hoc chambers of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will hold hearings into doping cases and will inform the IOC immediately of their rulings.
