Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - Nijat Rahimov of Kazakhstan lifted a world record in the clean and jerk to cancel out a record snatch from China‘s Lyu Xiaojun and beat the 2012 champion on countback by weighing 640 grams less.

Rahimov had 165 kilos in the snatch and then managed a record 214kg for a combined total 379kg in the 77kg category.

Lyu had ther same total from the record 177kg snatch and 202 in the clean and jerk which led to the body weight countback rule to be applied.

Mohamed Mahmoud of Egypt took bronze with 361kg.

Lyu had the same points tally in London 2012 for gold, and a year later he set the world record at 380kg for his third world title.
