Berlin (dpa) - Twenty-seven sports federations have so far agreed deals to work with the new Olympic television channel being launched this year by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The federations have agreed to collaborate on content for the channel, the IOC said Monday.

IOC president Thomas Bach said: "The Olympic Channel will mark a major shift in how the Olympic Movement connects with young people all year round."

An announcement on the launch date is expected in the coming weeks, he said.

The channel will broadcast live sport events and news as well as magazine shows and archive Olympic footage.
