Dusseldorf (dpa) - A new television documentary by Germany‘s ARD to be broadcast on Wednesday will claim to strengthen suspicions of state-backed doping in Russia.

Previously unpublished documents claim to show Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko prevented the publication of a failed doping test by a Russian footballer in the country‘s top league.

Westdeutsche Rundfunk (WDR), a member of the ARD consortium, said Tuesday the documentary also has footage showing track and field coaches who have been banned over doping still working with top athletes.

The task force of the international athletics federation IAAF has been presented with the ARD‘s research, WDR said.

In a response on June 1 the task force said the findings of the research was a "very serious matter" and a "grave concern."

ARD has been at the forefront of research into doping in Russia and international athletics in general.

IAAF will decide on June 17 on whether to continue or lift the suspension of the Russian athletics federation imposed in November, a decision will have ramifications for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August.

It followed a report from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) commission which spoke of systematic doping and cover-ups of positive doping tests in the country.
