Berlin (dpa) - German long jump world leader Sosthene Moguenara has torn an ankle ligament while filming an advert which raises questions about her participation at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, it emerged on Tuesday.

Moguenara made headlines with a career best 7.16 metres on Sunday at a meet in Weinheim, the biggest jump of the season in the discipline around the world and third best all-time by a German athlete.

She then went to Berlin for the shooting of an ad for the 2018 European championships in the German capital, and sustained the injury when she twisted her ankle while jumping onto a soft mat.

Coach Uli Knapp said that Moguenara won‘t require an operation and that he remains "hopeful she can recover for the Olympics."

Rio long jump qualifying is set for August 16 and the final for the next day.
