Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - A physiotherapist for the French tennis team at the Rio Olympics has collapsed and died, the country‘s Olympic committee CNOSF said early Saturday.

"Patrick Bordier died suddenly this afternoon," CNOSF president Denis Masseglia said a ceremony with French medal winners.

"Patrick Bordier was a friend and someone at the service of the athletes."

Bordier had worked with the French tennis team since 2014.

"We learned with great sadness of the death of Patrick Bordier. All of our thoughts are with his family," the French Tennis Federation FFT said on Twitter.
