Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - Allyson Felix reiterated Wednesday her disappointment that she can‘t double up over 200 and 400 metres at the Rio Olympics after failing to qualify by one hundredth of a second over the shorter distance.

Felix came fourth at the United States trials by the tiny margin which means she will not run the 200 for the first time in her fourth Olympics - having won gold over the distance in 2012 and silver in 2004 and 2008.

Her only individual event in Brazil is thus, starting Saturday, the 400m where she won the world title last year in Beijing and a silver 2011 in Daegu.

"It‘s definitely heartbreaking for me not to be there, it is my favorite race," she told a news conference Wednesday.

"I wish this year would have gone differently for me but that‘s just a part of sports. Some things you have to deal with, and I just had to regroup and keep moving on,"

"Of course I‘ll watch and it will be difficult because I would have loved to defend my title and I would love see where I map in the 200m ... It‘s obviously going to be a great race, there is a lot of talent in there but It will be tough for me to watch."

The four-time Olympic and nine-time world champion Felix is second in the 400m world list for the year with 49.68 from the trials, just 13 hundredth behind leader Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas.

"I‘ve made a lot of progress since trials. Just excited to be here, things are going well. I am feeling a lot better than I was at trials, so just grateful to be here again and ready to compete," she said.

"I‘m running a new distance so there are a lot of different challenges for me but I‘m excited to use my experience over the years and just try to get it done again."
