Moscow (dpa) - Russia vowed on Wednesday to quickly retaliate against Britain for that country‘s expulsion of 23 Russian diplomats, condemning the British measure as an "unprecedentedly crude provocation."

Britain has ordered the expulsion "under a false pretext of Russia‘s alleged involvement in the poisoning of (former spy Sergei) Skripal and his daughter," Russia‘s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Britain‘s actions are "destroying the foundations of normal intergovernmental dialogue between our countries," the statement said.
