Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - Canadian Penny Oleksiak and American Simone Manuel race to an astonishing tie for Olympic gold in the women‘s 100-metre freestyle.

Both women swam an Olympic record 52.70 seconds with bronze going to Sweden‘s Sarah Sjostrom in 52.99.

Australian Cate Campbell went out under world record pace but faded down the field while her sister Bronte missed out on bronze by five hundredths of a second.
