Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - Heavy rain forces the temporary postponement of all athletics events at the Rio Games.

Rain set in soon after the start of the evening session and soon became heavier.

The first two 110-metre hurdles heats still went ahead but the remaining three were then delayed. The athletes of the men‘s pole vault final ran for cover and the women‘s discus qualifiers first huddled under an umbrella then also sought shelter in the bowels of the stadium.

The spectators meanwhile were entertained with Rihanna‘s Umbrella and other classics such Singing in the Rain and I can‘t stand the Rain.
