Paris (dpa) - The poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter in Britain is a "totally unacceptable attack," says the French Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has spoken to his British counterpart Boris Johnson to assure him of France‘s solidarity with Britain, the ministry says.

"We have full confidence in the British investigation to quickly establish who was responsible," the ministry added in its daily press briefing.

The ministry did not respond to a question as to whether the development could threaten President Emmanuel Macron‘s planned visit to Russia in May.
