Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - Usain Bolt cruises into the 100-metre final with a season best 9.86 seconds amid "Bolt, Bolt" chants in the Olympic stadium of the Rio Games.

The six-time gold medallist Bolt started to look around halfway through the race as he handily finished off Canada‘s Andre de Grasse who also advanced into the blue riband final at 0125 GMT Tuesday with 9.92 seconds.

Bolt is seeking a unique triple triple in Rio. His biggest rival is considered to be American 2004 winner Justin Gatlin who advanced in 9.94.

Frenchman Jimmy Vicault (9.95), Ivory Coast‘s Ben Youssef Maite (9.97), Akani Simbine of South Africa (9.98), Jamaica‘s Yohan Blake, American Trayvon Bromell (both 10.01) and Jak Ali Harvey of Turkey (10.03) complete the final.
