DICCON MASTERMAN (22.04.2012):
Adopting Esperanto for such a unifying matter as the European anthem could be the first step in recognising the hypocrisy of current EU language policy which deems all nominated national languages to be co-equal in status which in practice they are not. This has led over the life of the EU to the enormous cost of burdensome translation and unfair language discrimination... all of which could be obviated by the sole use of Esperanto.
Christopher Zervic (08.04.2012):
As an Esperanto speaker of 18 years, I can appreciate that a neutral language would be perfectly appropriate for this hymn in its role. The lyrics, however, are worthless because they fail to reference the true uniting force of Europe for centuries: Jesus Christ.
Excellent idea! I was surprised to hear how "singable" Esperanto is.
Jeroen Meefout (04.04.2012):
Brian Barker (03.04.2012):
I think it is a great idea. The anthem can be seen here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRv0asAIwDU also have a look at http://www.lernu.net
Bill Chapman (03.04.2012):
This seems like an eminently sensible idea to me. Esperanto does not belong to any one nation or group of nations.
