Berlin (dpa) - German prosecutors demanded on Tuesday a life sentence for Beate Zschaepe, who is accused of being an accessory in a series of racist-inspired murders carried out by a neo-Nazi terrorist group.

The 42-year-old Zschaepe has been on trial for about four years as a suspected accomplice in the killings of eight Turkish immigrants, a Greek citizen and a German policewoman between 2000 and 2007 by the National Socialist Underground (NSU).

Zschaepe should face a penalty for each of the killings, federal prosecutor Herbert Diemer said at her trial in Munich.

Zschaepe has denied any involvement in the murders, laying the blame on the two other NSU members, Uwe Mundlos and Uwe Bohnhardt, who died in an apparent murder-suicide in 2011.
