DEVELOPING Dutch parliament recognizes Armenian killings as genocide

By our dpa-correspondent and Europe Online    auf Facebook posten  Auf Twitter posten
The Hague (dpa) - The Dutch parliament has voted overwhelmingly in favour of a resolution recognizing the mass killing of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire during World War I as genocide.

The Dutch government said it would continue to discuss "the question of the Armenian genocide."

Dutch Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag promised that an official representative would be sent to a commemoration ceremony in Yerevan on April 24, but that it was not a signal that the government recognized the killings as a genocide.
