Berlin (dpa) - The Bulgarian weightlifting federation BWF has appealed a ban of its team for the 2016 Olympics at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The CAS said in a statement Tuesday that the BWF wants the November 9 ruling by world governing body IWF nullified and the execution of the ban stayed.

The BWF was banned by the IWF from next year‘s Rio Games because 11 of its athletes violated anti-doping rules, and fined 500,000 dollars.
