Airbus to partner with Bombardier on C-Series passenger jets

Paris (dpa) - European aircraft manufacturer Airbus and Canadian aircraft maker Bombardier will partner on C-Series passenger jets, the companies said Monday.

Airbus will provide supply chain knowledge as well as sales and marketing support for Bombardier‘s new model, the companies said in a joint statement.

In recent weeks, US President Donald Trump‘s administration has placed punitive tariffs on the import of jets manufactured by Bombardier, after accusations by US competitor Boeing of unfair subsidies.

Boeing has alleged that Bombardier has received federal and provincial government subsidies that give it an unfair advantage, and has asked the US Commerce Department to investigate whether Bombardier was dumping planes into the US market.

The C-Series planes are said to compete with Boeing‘s best-selling 737 jets and Airbus A320s.

Bombardier described an initial round of the US tariffs as "absurd."
