Frankfurt (dpa) - German Olympic and sports federation officials met in Frankfurt Sunday ahead of a decision to enter either Berlin or Hamburg as a candidate to host the 2024 Olympic Games.

The cities presented their concept for holding the Games to the executive of the country‘s Olympic sport movement DOSB which will announce its favoured city on Monday.

"There were good presentations from both candidates," DOSB chief executive Michael Vesper said.

"I am enormously confident of what we have presented here," Berlin councillor Frank Henkel said. "The question centred around how we integrate the knowledge of sport organizations with how we want to achieve our vision for the Olympic village and what the bid means for sport."

On Monday, both cities will make final 15-minute presentations, while an expert group representing sport, politics and civic society will also come together to discuss the candidacy before the DOSB executive declares its preference.

This will then go for approval at a meeting Saturday of the DOSB general assembly.

The DOSB on Sunday also heard views of the representatives of leading sports federations, state sport organizations and non-Olympic sports associations before making the decision.

DOSB president Alfons Hoermann has repeated in weekend interviews that the race between Hamburg and the capital in Berlin is open.

The DOSB will take into account opinion polls in both cities but Hoermann said this would not be the decisive factor.

A Forsa opinion poll last week showed 64 per cent of Hamburg residents approve the city hosting the Games, compared to 55 per cent in Berlin.
